Forensics team captures state honors

   NE Campus Forensics Team took home eight awards at the recent state tournament at Kingwood College.
   The fall tournament is sponsored by the Texas Community College Speech and Theatre Association.
   The winners included Lisa Simmons, who won second place in prose interpretation and duo interpretation; Simmons also won a fourth place in programmed oral interpretation.
   Chelsea McCoy took fifth place in programmed oral interpretation and a fourth place in dramatic interpretation.
   Simmons won a first place in split reader’s theatre and McCoy won a second place in the same event.
   Brendel Doss took a third place in split reader’s theatre.
   Lisa Benedetti, speech instruction and department chair of communication arts, serves as forensics director.
   “Every time I take the team out, they impress the judges,” she said. “They work hard for their awards.”
