NE to return to 70s decade for celebration
The NE Campus student activities office and Child Development Club will present That 70s Fest next week on the campus center lawn.
The celebration will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 17.
Grilled hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones and cold drinks will be served, and a DJ will play 70s music.
The campus bookstore personnel will also be present, giving away door prizes, such as calculators, backpacks and other school supplies throughout the event.
In addition, the Texas Department of Public Safety will be present with its mobile unit, allowing students and staff to renew drivers licenses on the premises.
Anyone may renew his or her drivers license if it is within one year of its expiration date.
The Child Development Club has been collecting aluminum foil since March 25, in an attempt to create a giant foil ball.
Its about three feet in diameter right now, but we havent attached all the foil yet, Laura Daniels-Simmonds, club advisor, said.
We plan to make it huge, she said.
The club plans to donate the ball to the Ronald McDonald House, which recycles foil and cans to raise funds.
That 70s Fest will be the last opportunity for students to donate foil or cans.
If one cannot make the event, he or she can also drop donations off in the student activities office, Student Center 175, before Wednesday, April 17.
