Material girl wants to shun limelight
By Blanche Magilacutty

Gos'sip, n. A person who chatters or repeats idle talk and rumors about others.

Blanche Magilacutty: Hello everyone! Here’s what’s going on in the wee world of Tinsletown this week. The good, the bad, the ugly, the stress, the noise, the hype is all too much. Look for yourselves.

Madonna Fed Up With Aggressive Fans and Boring Interviews
Madonna was recently quoted as saying she was fed up with aggressive behavior of fans and bored with giving interviews.
“If it were up to me, I wouldn't give any interviews. I think they are A)boring—explaining for the umpteenth time what I do and B) I'm not interested in telling the world about my private life.”
The singer who once did anything to attract attention is now upset by fans who ring her doorbell, order pizzas, bother her daughter and stand in front of her car so that she cannot get out of her driveway.
“They make life impossible,” she said.
She, of all people, complained to Amica, a German monthly magazine, about the number of topless models published by tabloids. “My God, you see nothing but naked women in the newspapers here,” she said.
Blanche: Does anyone else remember a certain metal-covered book published back in the early 1990s? Since when does Miss Madonna spare us the details of anything?

It's a Boy for Marlee Matlin
Academy Award winner Marlee Matlin gave birth to her second child by husband, Kevin Grandalski last Tuesday. Their new son was born at an undisclosed Los Angeles-area hospital.
This was the only information released by Matlin's publicist.
The couple also has a four-year-old daughter.
Blanche: The least they could do was give us a name. All we have to go on now is      Grandalski. I’m trying to think good thoughts.

First Latin Grammy Awards Offend Record Company
“Anything sung in either Spanish or Portuguese” was the broad definition of Latin music given by Latin Grammy executives.
Record company Fonovisa threatened a boycott, however, complaining that the Latin Grammys snubbed Mexican styles such as tejano, norteno and ranchera.
Television producers were negatively accused of favoring artists better known among Americans such as Ricki Martin, Christina Aguilera and N'Sync even though the telecast was scheduled to air in more than 120 countries including America.
Blanche: Now now, no need to fight. You will all get your chance to be on TV. Share the Latin limelight, boys and girls.

     Elvis' Doctor Denied License Restoration
Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners turned down the request of one-time personal physician to Elvis Presley to have his medical license restored recently.
Dr. George C. Nichopolous, 73, had his license suspended in 1980 for overprescribing to Presley and received probation for three years.
He asked to be judged on the basis of his entire medical career and not just the years he spent treating Presley and later events involving overprescribing to patients.
The board voted four to one against the restoration of the license even though Nichopolous said he would accept a restriction on his dispensing drugs to patients.
The board was reported as saying their ruling was made for the welfare and benefit of the citizens of Tennessee.
Blanche: 73 years old and still fighting the good fight? Give it a rest, Nicho. Retire. Do some crossword puzzles. Play some golf.

     Cassandra Voted Out
Day 59 was the last day that Cassandra, the UN worker was in the Big Brother house.
The issues that reportedly led to the audience's decision were that “she wanted everyone to get serious; she felt gloomy in the house, and she didn't like the show's plans,” according to Big Brother representatives.
     Blanche: Cassandra who?
