Board initiates meeting area at district office

TCC Board of Trustees held its first meeting in the newly remodeled Community Room this month at the May Owen Center.

The new meeting room received rave reviews from board members and others at the meeting.

The board approved election judges for the May 4 trustee election as well as the College District Strategic Plan.

The plan contains specific goals for TCC to help direct its course for the next five years.

Chancellor Leonardo de la Garza described it as a “living, breathing document” and said the plan is something that will help guide the college.

The plan was created with input by faculty, campus presidents and students.

At the next meeting, the board is expected to approve the election of District 2 board member, Robin Winnett, who is running unopposed.

By not holding an election for an unopposed seat, TCC will save money that would have otherwise been spent on election costs.
The board also learned that all four campus presidents had received plaques for their contributions in the State Employee Charitable Campaign.

NW Campus led all campuses with donations of 171 percent over the average.

The next board meeting is Thursday, April 18.
