Busch twins: fair or unfair attention?
by Chris Taylor, editor-in-chief

For weeks I’ve listened to people (fanatical Republicans mostly) talk about Bill Clinton as though he were worse than Nixon. And for some odd reason, George W. Bush’s integrity has been considered off-limits.

But, thanks to his recent policies that are quite big business friendly, we have seen that the man is as much for sale as Clinton ever was. We have also seen glimpses of the integrity he instills in his daughters.

The Bus(c)h twins apparently think it’s okay to consume alcoholic beverages while underage. I have to wonder if the Bus(c)h twins didn’t have the Secret Service carting them around, whether they would be out drinking and driving just like dear old dad once did?

My biggest problem with this situation is the fact that W. signed some of the toughest underage drinking laws and DWI laws in the history of the state. Isn’t it a little hypocritical to sign such laws when you don’t teach your kids to respect those laws

But, if I want the Bus(c)h twins to be treated like everyone else, then I have to admit that calling 911 to report the terrible crime of drinking alcohol was way out of line. The 911 service is for emergencies. I can’t think of any situation where underage drinking is an emergency. And how often is 911 called when other kids not related to a president order a margarita? Probably never.

Maybe now we can get past trivial matters such as the president’s sex-life or the president’s daughter’s lust for a good party. It would be nice if people would admit that we have much larger problems than that.

I don’t care if the Bus(c)h twins buy drinks everywhere they go. I’m more worried about presidents and politicians who receive large contributions from corporations or China. That seems like a rather important issue to me.

Now to get off my rant for a bit. Since Father’s Day was just here, and because I am a father and I have one, I figure I should give it a little publicity. Father’s Day has never gotten the attention that Mother’s Day gets.

We should all know by now that fathers are as important as mothers. And we need to celebrate them just the same.
