NW, South campuses announce casts
by Michael Kraft, entertainment editor
The NW and South campuses drama departments are working on their shows, which will open soon.
NW Campus will perform Born on a Sunday Oct. 11-14 at 8 p.m. with a matinee at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The play is about author and playwright August Strindberg (Nick Kougias) and his experiences in Paris 1896, his Inferno period, when he is in a state of psychotic delusion. He hears voices and is compelled by powers and furies.
Horatio Christensen (Seth Martin), a young man who has returned from studying with Freud, befriends Strindberg. But Stridbergs dark, twisted world begins to weigh on Christensen, and it brings up the darkness of his own past.
Other characters include Rebecca Stanton (Leah Carithers Jeffers), Yves DeSaint (Kevin Haberer), The Power (Andy Baldwin), Siri (Paula Adams), Frida (Debbie Adkins), The Father (Kevin Hewitt), The Stepmother (Jenny Lang) and The Furies (Kasey Barber, Paige Fockler, Mokahanna Coffey, Sylvia Acosta, Melissa Pitman and Melissa Malherbe).
The play is written and directed by T.J. Walsh.
The South Campus show, The Innocents Crusade, is opening Wednesday, Oct. 17, and playing through Saturday, Oct. 20, at 8 p.m. with a matinee at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18.
The play is about a family consisting of the son Bill (Allen Randall), the father Karl (Shannon Sackett) and the mother Mame (Rene Finkenkeller) and their adventures traveling to prospective colleges for Bill.
Throughout a series of funny and bizarre admission interviews, Bill cannot convince anyone, including his own parents, that he is anything but a dreamer with average SAT scores. To prove his point, he begins what he calls a crusade for truth and recruits followers who all cram into the family car.
Other characters include Ms. Connell/Ms. Cabot (Jennifer Lush), Helen (Nicole Carter), Waitress (Emily Hardy), Wendy (Bethany Bundock), Tommy/Clancy/Coover/ Teller/Stephen (Djemal Burris), Evan (Christopher Reaves) and Laura (Shannon Wright).
