Chamber winds to play for TWU performance

Zephyr Winds of Texas Women’s University and Mariah Winds of Texas Tech University will perform French chamber music Tuesday, Feb. 19, at TWU.

“It’s very sparkling, fun music,” said Dr. Pam Youngblood, associate professor of music in TWU’s department of performing arts.

Youngblood believes the concert will be an interesting evening for audience members.

“It’s unusual to have this kind of music performed,” she said of the upcoming concert.

The audience can expect to hear compositions of Emile Bernard, Jean Francaix and Georges Enesco.

Flute, clarinet and bassoon players, who all are TWU faculty members, make up the Zephyr Winds chamber trio.

Mariah Winds quintet features Texas Tech faculty playing the flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn and bassoon.

The free concert is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. in the Margo Jones Performance Hall.
