Cuban conditions more humane than caves
by Nick Nance, reporter
Recently, endless reports have claimed poor treatment of the prisoners being kept in Cuba. But these people have committed the ultimate crime against our country and us.
Anyone who comes into contact with our justice system is entitled to the protection of our laws, but terrorism is a special situation.
These people are in custody of the allied countries united in their fight against terrorism.
I dont think these prisoners are going to ever forget the cause they so greatly speak of every chance they get.
However, many observers are not clear as to what the cause really is. Is it to kill as many Americans as possible or just kill as many people as possible?
Being nothing short of strict and hard on these prisoners is the only way to handle them.
Our prisons are, without a doubt, better than the cave these people lived in before they were captured.
The civil rights activists trying to apply U.S. laws on war crimes are a joke. However, why are U.S. laws being forced upon these criminals and not Great Britains?
We live in a society of touchy-feely-me-monkeys caught up in their self-loathing and too worried about hurting someones feelings to really absorb how dangerous these people are to the world.
We should let Great Britain handle these prisoners now. We should not be the worlds court. We have been the world police for too long, and it is hurting us more than helping.
The speed in which people across the world forget the severity of the devastation we have suffered because of the terrorist attacks is mind-boggling. Our economy is the worst it has been since the Reagan administration.
I attribute our economic and moral deficiencies to terrorist groups across the world.
They have taken radical, violent and misguided views and combined them with a religion that is supposed to be based on peaceful teachings.
These terrorists have made their choice to act without their own regard. If they act in such a manner in what they say is their best interests, why must we treat them with respect and regard their lives when they dont?
Housing these people in Cuba for trial is a waste of valuable resources. They have not been oppressed or given a raw deal.
They attacked us maliciously and with no regard for life or property.
Their radical views of killing to make a statement show the need to ensure these people do not spread their views to the uneducated masses of the world.
Even the thought of these people being mistreated draws no sympathy from me. My sympathy is for those on hijacked airplanes or at work in the World Trade Center Sept. 11.
