The great election course 2000 will hold an election fair Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the main commons on SE Campus.
Three events will be held during the day, including a mock election, a mock debate and a political forum.
The political forum, 10–11:15 a.m. will feature candidates Luther Perry, the democratic nominee for Tarrant County Sheriff; Bryndan Wright, Republican nominee for the 24th Congressional District; Mark Greene, Democratic nominee for the 12th Congressional District; Betsy Price, Republican nominee for County Tax Assessor Collector, and Diane Roffey, Democratic nominee for County Tax Assessor Collector.
Candidates Martin Frost, Democratic nominee for the 24th Congressional District, and Kay Granger, Republican nominee for the 12th Congressional District, were also asked to speak but were unavailable.
During the forum, candidates will have 5-10 minutes to speak on an issue of their choice and then answer questions from students in the audience, according to Brad Stephenson, U.S. government adjunct.
The mock debates will be held from 5:30- 6:30 p.m.
Great election course students have been divided into four groups, representing the Democratic, Republican, Reform or Green parties.
The groups will then have a question/answer session with the audience on the various stances of each party on the presented issues, according to Dr. Hamed Madani, government department chairperson.
For more information on the election fair events, call Dr. Madani at 817-515-3733.
