Fitness course provides PE option
Not every student likes to exercise, so the PE department on South Campus is offering Survival of the Fittest Boot Camp Wednesday, Nov 1, at 2:30 p.m.
This new fitness idea, an obstacle course, has been designed to help students exercise. The course will focus on four areas: speed, power, conditioning and strength.
For speed, students will do both speed ladders and line hops. The ladders will also focus on motor work since students must use hands and feet to climb.
The hurdles, cone run, bench hops and plyometrics will be used in the power area, which will help students start building muscle mass.
For conditioning, students will do sprints around the gym.
Finally, for strength, students will do sit-ups and push-ups and work with the medicine balls.
Weather permitting, the obstacle course will be outside, but it has also been designed for indoor use. Survival of the Fittest will begin at 2:30 p.m.
Students are not required to sign-up in advance. Door prizes, including t-shirts, will be awarded to the winners after the obstacle course is run.
