Investigator to speak on forensic evidence
An expert investigator for cases involving fires and accidents will visit NE Campus this month.
Thomas Persing will speak to students and faculty about forensics Monday, Oct. 16, at 11:15 a.m. in the Student Center, Center Corner.
Persing will discuss the kidnapping of Charles Lindberghs baby, fire investigations, accident reconstruction, food contamination cases, the scientist in court and court developments.
Because of his background and knowledge, Persing has been recognized by Texas courts as an expert witness in regards to fire causation and accident reconstruction.
The investigator has a bachelors degree in criminal justice, with minors in chemistry and math.
He has also trained as an emergency medical technician and an all-lines adjuster.
Persing has had many professional positions for several companies, including Hudson Intentional, Weckerling Scientific Laboratories Forensic Specialties, North Central Texas Council of Governments, U.S. Army Infantry and Maryland Casualty Company.
Persing also has various specialized training.
He has attended many expert witness seminars, accident reconstruction seminars and forensic science seminars.
He now owns his own business, FACTS Investigative Laboratories.
He is a licensed private investigator, licensed insurance adjuster and member of the American Bar Associations Standing Committee on Scientific Evidence.
