Groups combine talents for annual campus Gospel Fest
by Mary Barrera, south news editor

Students, faculty and staff raised the roof on South Campus in honor of African-American Heritage Month.

African American Student Organization (AASO) and the TCC gospel choir, Voices United, sponsored the 15th annual Gospel Fest.

Gospel choirs, bands and soloists from around the metroplex shared in the festival.

Among the contributing acts were Voices United, Riverside Middle School Step Team, Jasmine Loving, Sha Ireland, Gospel Servants, Reveal and Lorraine and Byron Butler.

“Act like you are in the four walls of a gospel cathedral,” Annie Dobbins, coordinator of AASO, who emceed the event, said.

As powerful voices and perfect harmonies overtook the recital hall, audience members stood, clapped and sang along.

TCC has had a gospel choir for ten years, Dobbins said.

“Gospel Fest is one of the culminating events of African-American Heritage Month,” she said.

AASO meets each Monday at 12:30 p.m. in the SUB Texas Room.
