NE facility reopens after behavior issues

    As of Oct. 15, the NE gym is now open for basketball players again—with some changes.

   Because of some issues with players’ behaving in an unsportsmanlike manner, the staff eliminated basketball.

   Basketball can be played only during certain hours and certain days: Tuesdays 3:30-5:30 p.m., Wednesdays 3:30-5:30 p.m., Thursdays 3:30-5:30 p.m. and Fridays 1-3p.m.

   To play basketball, one must be either student or faculty and must have TCCD identification.

   Also, players must sign a new code of conduct, and a supervisor is on duty during the playing hours.

   “We looked at what some of the problems were in the past and tried to address those when we opened the courts back up to basketball,” Dr. Joy Thetford, HPE professor, said.

   Students are asked not to show up too early for basketball because of classes.
