Hatred set aside for handouts

The Sept. 11 attacks on the United States have opened our country’s eyes on many issues.

First, the attacks showed us that we are vulnerable to aggression from crazed fanatics who have a real or imagined beef against our country.

The other issue is the realization that a good portion of the rest of the world really does not like us.

Many countries believe the United States brought the attacks on itself because of our policies toward the rest of the world.

America has been described as backwards on many issues ranging from religious tolerance to our environmental policy to our friendship with Israel.

Most of these countries hate us based purely on envy. France has always acted snooty toward Americans. The French have quickly forgotten that without the United States’ help in WWII, they would probably be speaking German right now.

Other countries dislike America because our women are treated as equals. Some countries are so backwards that they believe women should always have their faces covered and not be allowed to wear pants.

These countries are appalled at the way we allow our women to be free.

But, the biggest issue of all seems to be our friendship with Israel.
The rest of the Middle East has always despised the fact the Jews are living on Arab holy ground. They often seem to forget that it is Jewish holy ground, also.

The United States also seems to catch most of the blame when it comes to Israel.

Americans are not the only ones who support or have supported Israel.

Other countries supported the formation of Israel in 1948, but because we are the richest and most powerful, it is so much easier to hate us.

True, U.S. foreign policy is sometimes contradictory and usually not fair to many countries, but that does not justify terrorist attacks or celebrations after attacks.

The rest of the world may never like America. Maybe they should remember that the next time they need help after a natural disaster or an attack from another nation.

America only has two possible solutions to this problem. One is to take over the world and make everyone like us, which is near to impossible.

The other solution is to let the other countries in the world fend for themselves.

Citizens of the United States believe in helping out those less fortunate. Whenever there is a disaster, famine flood or war. the U.S. government and its citizens usually offer help.

If a country needs help they usually come to us to use our technology or our money.

When a major catastrophe happens in another country, let that country deal with it. If we are that worthless and decadent, then why do others always ask for our help?

If they hate us so much, why do they keep coming by with their hands out?
