Area orchestra to go hillbilly

The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (FWSO) will present guest conductor Michael Krajewski and Billy and the Hillbillies for Red, White and Bluegrass.

The country music review, part of the FWSO’s Superstar Pops Series, will be Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 18-21, at Bass Performance Hall.

Michael Krajewski is the principal pops conductor for the Houston, New Mexico, Long Beach and Jacksonville symphonies.

During the first half of the program he will lead the orchestra through various musical styles, such as ragtime, rock and country.
The selections will also include a Sousa march and the George M. Cohan overture.

The second half of the program will feature Billy and the Hillbillies, a four-member musical comedy group.

Their performances integrate classical music and bluegrass in a style they call “Classgrass.”

Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m.

Sunday’s performance begins at 2 p.m. The FWSO offers a special promotion for Thursday night only; all tickets are $10.

Tickets for Friday through Sunday cost from $21 to $70.

Tickets are available through the symphony ticket office and the symphony website, www.fwsymphony.org. For more information, call 817-665-6000.
