Honors given to outstanding transfers
by Mary Barrera, reporter
Several students transferring from South Campus to four-year universities received honors recently.
Twenty-three South Campus students have been nominated for the College Boards Talent Roster of Outstanding Transfer Students from Community Colleges.
The Talent Roster program nationally honors community college transfer students who hold a minimum 3.0 GPA and who intend to pursue a baccalaureate degree.
The students names are listed in a publication, which encourages colleges and universities to seek them as potential candidates for admission, Sandra Johnson, South Campus counselor, said.
In addition, 58 full-time students who earned a minimum 3.5 GPA and transferred to the University of Texas Arlington were honored at a Transfer Achievement Citation Luncheon.
Each student could invite an instructor who has had positive impact on the students life, Kelly Krause, TCC alumnus, said.
