Oh where ... oh where’s ... integrity gone
by Chris Taylor, editor-in-chief

I warned everyone that the Bush administration would not be the magical restorer of integrity to the White House.

Nobody listened, but now the ugly truth has come out. Bush has less integrity than Clinton.

First, the Enron scandal exploded, and guess whose name has popped up everywhere? Honest George W. Bush.

Now, Vice President Dick Cheney is refusing to turn over documents that chronicle his secret meeting with Enron executives about national energy policy.

Cheney has said that the office of the president has given up too much power in the last 30-35 years.

Let’s see, who was president then? Some quick research shows that Nixon was president, and he was involved in a scandal that forced his resignation.

I guess that’s the power that Cheney wants back in the White House. The power to be above the law.

As one of Cheney’s 260 million bosses, I want the man to resign immediately. He is breaking the law. His defense of keeping private conversations from congress and the people is ridiculous, considering the circumstances.

Does Cheney think it would also be appropriate to meet secretly with Osama bin Laden to discuss the national terrorism policy? He might if there were money involved.

The most appalling aspect is that Bush refuses to make him do the right thing. Of course, everyone has turned a blind eye to his shortcomings as a leader. If he were that good of a president, Sept. 11 would have never happened. All those intelligent people in his cabinet should have seen this coming.

Bush appears to be forming a Committee to Help Enron Executives Avoid Prosecution (CHEEAP) with Cheney.

This administration’s pure greed is shocking. The whole country seems to have been brainwashed into thinking the current president is an honest man. He’s not. It was obvious when he lied about running for president when he was governor, and it’s even more obvious now.

George Washington once said he could not tell a lie. Apparently, George W. cannot tell the truth, especially when his retirement fund is at risk.

Now, if only someone can save us from this evil and cruel regime.
