I Spy indicative of Murphy’s comedy
by Nick Nance, managing editor

Money, big egos and invisible planes are abundant in the new movie I Spy, starring the duo of Owen Wilson and Eddie Murphy.

Undefeated middleweight boxing champion Kelly Robinson (Eddie Murphy) is solicited by President Bush to help the country and become an undercover spy.

The flamboyant Robinson soon meets his match when he is hooked up with his new partner, CIA agent Alex Scott (Owen Wilson).

The two are teamed up to track down the Air Force’s missing stealth bomber.

This stealth bomber is unlike any other. It can be invisible and is undetectable by any type of tracking device.

The country’s new top-secret weapon must be found, or the future of the free world will be forever changed.

Instantly, the tandem engage in a humorous struggle for the spotlight.

Scott insists Robinson take more of a low-key approach.

But the over-the-edge boxer refuses to step out of the spotlight.

When the two egos collide, they must decide if they are going to be able to stop fighting long enough to handle the mission they have been given.

The scene that strikes the funny bone and changed the attitude the two have toward each other takes place in a sewer. Overcome by the gases emitted from the sewer, Scott and Robinson share life experiences and realize they are the same person in different bodies.

The two continue their haphazard spy work and get themselves in hysterically funny situations.

All of these culminate at the very end. Scott and Robinson must figure out who is good and who is evil.

I Spy is an enjoyable comedic twist on the spy world.

Audiences will laugh until they hurt. Most of all they will pray these are not true-to-life events that take place in the spy world.

Murphy plays the over-the-edge boxer in Nutty Professor fashion while Wilson proves he is a multidimensional actor capable of any role.
On screen, the Murphy-Wilson match-up is a must-see.
