Israel deserves right to handle terror its way
by Nick Nance, reporter
I recently noticed my underwear was made in Israel, and this discovery almost bothered me. It made me ponder the endless suicide bombings taking place.
My concerns began with the possibility the money I had spent on my under garments was funding the carnage occurring in that area.
I began to read the current issue of Newsweek that had coverage of recent violence. Two things I read really stuck out.
First was a document found in Arafats compound that listed expenses. The largest expense was a bomb at $150; this item referenced is the explosive attached to the idiot blowing himself up.
Second, was how it was common at the wakes of Hamas bombers for an activist to approach the father of the bomber with an envelope containing $10,000.
I cannot understand the thought process of someone who blows himself up in the name of religion. Most of all, I do not think the problems faced in this region are the United States concern.
If we have any involvement at all, it should be a limitation on the supply of explosives. People capable of such things should not have easy access to weapons of mass destruction.
However, there is no way to ensure these people will not get the explosives. It is hard to regulate when Saddam Hussein makes money and explosives available for these acts of terror.
We should allow the countries in this area to handle their own issues. Israel should be allowed to handle terror the way it sees fit. Arafat is evil, and he should be stopped.
The United States should not be the mediator for anyone. We are currently handling our own war against terror; stopping Israel from its objectives only hurts ours.
For the first time we need to stay out of Middle-Eastern affairs. Only one thing remains for the United States to dorid the world of Saddam Hussein.
He is currently the largest supporter of international terrorism, so our concern needs to be with him. Hussein is the worlds biggest problem.
Involvement with Israel only drags us into the middle of a holy war. This war has been fought for centuries, and we must not get involved.
The United States must stop acting like the world police. The world has allowed us to handle our war on terror. It is time the United States allows Israel to do the same.
We cannot make either of these military powers agree to a cease-fire. Our involvement is a losing situation. Nothing can be gained by our involvement.
Our underwear can be made elsewhere.
