Campus job fairs to aid with employment leads
by KC Jones, reporter
Several countywide job fairs are scheduled for all four TCC campuses in conjunction with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Admission is free and open to the public Wednesday, April 25, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
These fairs will be the first of three job fairs scheduled in 2001.
Representatives from many local businesses such as Medcare Now, Conway Transportation, Progressive Concepts, Frost Bank, Sonitrol, Americredit, Six Flags, Childrens Courtyard, Global Group and Kelly Services will participate.
Susan Hammons, TCC director of public relations and marketing, said she was happy to have been approached by The Fort Worth Star-Telegram with this opportunity.
We saw it as a great way to increase visibility among both community residents and businesses about what TCC has to offer, she said.
The Star-Telegram has been promoting the fair through ads in their editions.
The paper will publish a special edition scheduled to be inserted in approximately 800,000 newspapers Sunday, April 22.
We anticipate many people will visit one of our campuses for the first time during these fairs, and some may decide to improve their employability by taking additional classes at TCC, she said.
The newspaper supplement will include a list of prospective employers that will be at each campus, as well as articles about the many TCC services and programs.
Students are invited to bring their resumes for review noon-4 p.m.
We also see this as a great opportunity to let the business community know more about the many services TCC can provide for them, she said.
The job fair locations are NE Student Center near the cafeteria; NW B118 East and West, across from the cafeteria; South Student Union Building and SE Commons.
Two future job fairs have been scheduled for August 14 and Nov. 7, 2001.
