NE literary journal published: features students essays, poetry
The 2000 edition of Under the Clock Tower made its debut earlier this month.
Under the Clock Tower is the NE Campus literary anthology sponsored by the NE English department. A ceremony was held recently to honor the contributing authors.
Some of the authors read their works to a live audience of about 100 people. Audience reaction to the writers works was positive.
For me, the reception for the writers is what makes it all worthwhile. After spending so much time working on the book, seeing the writers read their work and the reaction of the audiences is the high point, Cuyler Etheredge, assistant professor of English, said.
Etheredge oversaw the publishing of the magazine this semester.
Another high point is the diversity of the contributing writers. We have writers of all different ages, backgrounds and ethnicities, she added.
The book features collected fiction, non-fiction and poems by aspiring NE Campus writers.
Submissions were taken during the past year for the 2000 edition.
Any student on NE Campus can submit work to the book. You can be taking a day class or a night class, she said.
You dont even have to be taking an English course to enter a submission. We like to have a broad range of contributing writers, Etheredge said.
Under the Clock Tower is available in the student bookstore for $3.
Submissions are being taken from now until the end of the spring semester for next years edition.
Submissions for Under the Clock Tower can be sent to the English department office in FAC 336 or given to an English teacher.
Students who have work published in Under the Clock Tower are honored at an annual reception on campus.
