Journal unveiled
The NE Campus literary journal, Under the Clock Tower, an outlet for the creative writings of students for 12 years, attempts to stimulate and encourage campus creative writers.
Under the Clock Tower, produced yearly, contains poetry, essays and short stories written by students on the NE Campus.
Cuyler Etheredge, assistant professor of English and editor for the publication, said some former students who have submitted work to the journal have become published authors, poets and even playwrights. Published writers include James Duff, Tia Black and Lean King Olivier.
This years works will be selected in a writing competition sponsored by the English department. Those submitting works will have the opportunity to win cash prizes ranging from $25 for honorable mention to $100 for first place.
Applications and submissions are to be made to the English Department in FAC 336 or the Writing Center in ACB 109 by Wednesday, Nov. 21.
The journal will be distributed next October.
