Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor
Your vision doesnt go far enough. How do you think stereotypes develop?
Many of our TCC students feel inferior because their best friends, cousins, next door neighbors, etc. are going to TCU or SMU or even North Texas, straight out of high school when their own high school grades or lack of funds prevent them from moving out and going off to school.
For Burger King to re-enforce this image as being inferior IS a putdown. Not funny, cute, or even humorous.
What is sad is not that people didnt see the ads as funny, but that the writers of the commercial are lacking in a real sense of humor.
That attitude is an industry weakness that is evident all over the television.
What if they had played it up as being an ingenious way to budget, and that those students were headed for bigger and better things?
Who would have complained about that?
