TCC, Lockheed Martin receive grant to train employees
Training will be provided through TCC to help fill up to 500 new or upgraded positions for Lockheed Martin, a local corporation.
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) offered a $500,000 grant through its Skills Development Fund to aid TCC and Lockheed Martin in the training of these job positions.
The Fort Worth area will benefit from this grant by having new job opportunities and well-trained employees.
Skills Development Fund grants provide a golden opportunity for both employers and workers by giving employers a skilled labor force, TWC commissioner representing employers, Ron Lehman, said in a press release.
Meanwhile, workers get specialized training they need to advance their careers, he said.
Training will cover areas of aeronautical engineering and maintenance. The positions being trained include aircraft assemblers, aeronautical engineers, aircraft maintenance personnel and system analysts.
After completion of the training, workers will receive an average hourly wage of $20.81.
The connection between TCC and Lockheed Martin was made possible by the Fort Worth Opportunity Center (FWOC).
The FWOC is composed of local government and private businesses to help improve the skills of the Fort Worth workforce.
The mission of FWOC is to enhance the skills of local employees to give them better opportunities to meet the increasing demands of a changing marketplace.
Training will be held at TCC, Lockheed Martin and the FWOC and will take place over the next 12 months.
