Campus to present musical revue finale, My Kind of Town
The Musical Theater Workshop class on NE Campus will present My Kind of Town, a short musical revue and final project for the students.
With the loss of their traditional choreographer, the students have choreographed all of the dance numbers.
Their show has more of a show choir theme to it than a full-length musical.
Michael Kraft, student, adds that unlike most musical revues, My Kind of Town has a small plot attached to it.
I play a Russian named Mikhail, who has moved to America, he said. I move in with my cousin and travel with him to all sorts of different places.
Mikhail's cousin will be played by Eric Wilder. While on their journey, Mikhail and Eric meet Laura May, a girl on the quest to meet a beau in Alabama, but who soon finds Hollywood to be more appealing. Laura May will be played by Amber Rolen.
Rusty Thornsberg will play a Hollywood movie director who becomes the object of Laura May's desire.
Thornsberg describes his character as a flamboyant movie director and finds humor in the fact that his character has only one line: really.
The cast of My Kind of Town describes the production as a family show that is funny and tasteful and would be enjoyed by audiences who enjoy traveling.
Thornsberg believes TCC students would appreciate the show as well.
It would be great for students trying to unwind from the stress of final exams, he said.
The show runs May 7-11 at 8 p.m. Call 817-515-6687 for reservations.
