NW Campus

The NW Campus is holding an aviation job fair Tuesday, April 23, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Students should arrive in the Aviation Hanger with resumes and ready to interview.

South Campus

The South Campus Spring Awards Program will be held Thursday, April 18, at 7 p.m. in the SUB Dining Room.

Six South Campus TCC heating, air conditioning and refrigeration technology (HART) students competed against 28 other students from as far away as Minnesota at the Lee College 12th annual air conditioning trouble-shooting competition in Baytown.

The competition consists of a nationally recognized 100-question multiple-choice exam and 15 hands-on problems.

The competition awarded approximately $8,000 in prizes, including industry-related tools and equipment.

In the advanced category, John Mathios placed first. In the beginning category, James Quinn placed first; Jesse Roberts, third, and Levoy Wheeler, fourth.

Students who passed the tests received certification through the Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Institute.

Joe Williams and Tim Cassidy received door prizes.

Andy Rhinefort and Jeff Rector, HART instructors, accompanied the students.

The African American Student Organization (AASO) will sponsor Apollo Night Friday, April 19, 7-9 p.m. in the FAB Recital Hall. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children. All proceeds will benefit the AASO.

Counseling and student activities will offer Stress: Coping With Pressures of School, Work and Family, a workshop on dealing effectively with pressure. It will be presented by Sandra Johnson Tuesday, April 23, 12:30-1:50 p.m. in the SUB Texas Room.

Lizeth Escoria is the recipient of the Student Leadership Scholarship from the Texas Leadership Consortium (TLC). She is the first student from South Campus to receive the scholarship since the TLC’s inception 10 years ago.

NE Campus

Last month, the TCC Vikings, consisting of staff members, ran in the Dallas Trails Marathon and Marathon Relays.

The teammate assigned to the first leg sustained a severe leg injury at the two-mile point.

However, instead of quitting, he hobbled for three miles. When he reached the second leg, the team was in last place.

Team members said his ability to overcome the pain moved them to continue the race. They finished third in the Team Relays.

Student activities is sponsoring That ’70s Fest today 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the center lawn. Food, prizes, entertainment and exhibits will be included.

SE Campus

Awards Night, honoring student achievement and leadership, is scheduled Tuesday, April 16, 7 p.m. in the North Ballroom.
