Patreece Dade, NE Campus, and Karolyn St. Clair, SE Campus, recently received $1,000 scholarships from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. A broadcast journalism major, Dade has worked with the Mt. Horuhm Baptist Church in Grapevine for over five years, currently serving as its choir director and youth sponsor. St. Clair, a paralegal major who wants to pursue a law degree, has been a Girl Scout leader for her daughters troop.
The TCC Computer User Group will meet Wednesday Aug. 21, on South Campus in the SUB Living Room, 1-4 p.m.

South Campus
Women In New Roles (WIN-R) will host its first fall seminar Igniting Success, Extinguishing Fear, Tuesday, Sept. 3, 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in the SUB. Tina Jenkins will speak on reaching goals and moving beyond barriers.
NE Campus
Three recent graduates of the respiratory therapy program have met success with their certification. Kerri Pennartz, Stefanie Watson and Rob Welborne were able to take the exam because of a change in policy. The three became certified and registered within 45 days of graduation. No student has become certified that quickly, John Hiser, program coordinator, said.
Dr. Van Parker, dean of student development and educational services, received the Outstanding Leadership Award from the Texas Association of Community College Instructional Administrators during the organizations summer conference in Galveston. Parker was recognized for his contributions to community college instructional administration in Texas.
Rene West, adjunct photography instructor, and Jan Ryberg, adjunct music instructor, were listed among Fort Worth Weeklys 2002 Music Award winners recently. West was named Best Female Vocalist while Ryberg was featured as part of the Fort Worth Classical Guitar Society, named Best Classical.
NW Campus
A Howdy BBQ will be Wednesday, Aug. 28, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Mike Moncrief, Texas senator, spoke to U.S. and Texas government students in Martha Findlays classes recently. Moncrief explained the legislative process and discussed key issues, including health insurance for the elderly and the current nursing shortage.
