South Campus

    As part of Hispanic Heritage month activities, student activities is sponsoring a faculty/staff vs. student soccer match, which will be played Thursday, Oct. 10, at 5 p.m. on the soccer field. ***

    The counseling center will share information on techniques for passing exams as part of its Student Survival Series. How To Take a Test and Pass will be held Tuesday, Oct. 8, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the SUB Texas Room. Annie Dobbins, counselor, will conduct the session. ***

    The career center is sponsoring two seminars to give students useful information. The Home Based Business Forum will cover the subject of being oneÕs own boss. It will be held Wednesday, Oct. 9, 11 a.m.-12:20 p.m. in the SUB Forum Room. Dress for Success will help students learn how to make a good first impression with proper attire for an interview. It will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, 11 a.m.-12:20 p.m. in the SUB Forum Room. ***

    Positive Self-Talk will be presented Wednesday, Oct. 9, on South Campus. Flo Stanton, campus nurse and coordinator of health services, will start the session at 6 p.m. in the Student Center Forum Room. The presentation is held in cooperation with the Women in New Roles program.

NE Campus

    Time Management will be presented by Susie Carranza, academic advisor, Monday, Oct. 7, 12:30-1:30 p.m. in CAB 112. The workshop will address the time crunch in balancing studies, work and friends. ***

    The math department will hold practice sessions to help students prepare for the district-wide Jim Bolen Math Competition. Interested students can go to ATB 231 every Friday at 12:30 p.m. for assistance

NW Campus

    Judy Firmin, computer science instructor, will present Take Command of Your Computer 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, in C-112. The hands-on seminar will explain the use of the new voice command and dictation features of MS Word XP (2002). ***

    Self-TalkÑWhat Do You Say When You Talk to Yourself? will be presented by Joe Reed. He will discuss how students can optimize their outlook, focus their goals and succeed by programming their brains. The seminar is 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, in C-112. ***

    LuAnn Krey, coordinator of career and employment services, will conduct Resume: Do You Have One? Is It Current? at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in C-112. She will explain why an attractive resume is important, how to build a resume and how it can assist in finding a good job. ***

    Power, Attraction, Seduction will be presented by Dr. Shelly Cavin, coordinator of special services, at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, in C-112. Cavin will explain what powers someone has in a relationship, whether opposites do attract and how personality traits influence relationships.
