Invasion outshoots Shooters for NE title
by Nick Nance, reporter
Earlier this month, The Invasion managed to stop the hot Shooters to win the NE intramural basketball championship 80-56.
As in previous games this season, the game was marred with trash talking and foul language. The attitude shown by participants this year disappointed many who watched the games.
The Invasion had the lead from the beginning. They played great on both sides of the ball, making good shots and making turnovers on defense.
The Shooters, never playing as a team, had to play catch up from the start. They proved they are not a comeback team.
Jacob Holmes did everything he could to lead the Shooters to victory, but his teams 24-point lead was not enough.
Jayson Smith hustled on both sides of the ball and made his shots when it counted the most. He led both teams in scoring with 36 points.
The Invasion team consisted of Alonzo Simmons, Jon Whitten, Brian Goff, Smith, Josh Pruneda and Wes Hendrix.
Intramural sports will continue in April with racquetball and tennis.
