Name new for intramurals
NE Campus intramurals has a new name. All former intramural activities are now called NEW Games, which stands for North East Wellness.
"The games are open to students and faculty. Most of the games are coed, and it's a good way to meet people with similar interests and a desire to stay in shape," Joy Thetford, one of the coordinators of the NEW Games, said.
The fall NEW Games began with a recent table tennis tournament.
Dan Walker, a 74-year-old senior education student, and Tony Luscri, instructional assistant, competed in the final round of the double elimination match. Luscri emerged as the winner of the tournament.
Other NEW Games on the fall schedule include a sand volleyball tournament Friday, Oct. 11; a singles and doubles horseshoe tournament Friday, Oct. 25; tennis Friday, Nov. 8, and the Turkey Trot Friday, Nov. 22.
Clubs are encouraged to compete in the sand volleyball tournament.
