Coordinator to give interview tips

    With a tight job market, one needs an edge, a South Campus counselor believes.

    To help students gain that edge, Monica Carrasco-Bettle will conduct a workshop 11 a.m.-12:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, in the SUB Forum Room on South Campus.

    "I will provide strategies and tips on interviewing techniques and how to negotiate salary," she said.

    The interactive presentation is sponsored by the South Campus career center.

    Bettle, coordinator of the career center, plans to offer students preparation for the interview and salary negotiations as well as a better understanding of the employer in the interviewing process.

New U name for new program

    The NE Campus Wellness program (NEW) is offering services to students this month and next.

    NEW U has unveiled its new Web site at www.tcc.edu. Included on the site is an explanation of the program, a list of contact people and phone numbers and e-mail addresses. The site is updated weekly.

    NEW U will sponsor National Depression Screening Day Thursday, Oct. 10. HIV testing is 10 a.m.-2p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, Nov. 14 and Nov. 21. All screenings are confidential.
