NW battles big names in College Bowl action

    NW Campus students fared well against big league schools recently.

   The region 12 tournament offered stiff competition to a team of five who represented the district last week at the regional college bowl tournament.

   In all, 20 teams battled it out in the varsity sport of the mind. TCC placed seventh in its division and 12th overall.

   The tournament was held at the University of North Texas in Denton.

   TCC representatives included Brian Covey, Laura Foster, Amy Jones, Ricky Wasson and Deric Merrill.

   “We were very proud of our performance, considering we were the only two-year school there,” Covey, TCC team member said.

   University of Arkansas won the tournament; Texas A&M University garnered second, and University of Texas-Austin came in third.

   The team from the University of Arkansas will complete in the national contest at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan., April 26-28.
