NW plans career day

Knowing where to look can be the first step in seeking a new position in today’s job market. TCC is making that first step easier in the fields of aeronautical, semiconductor and railroad technologies careers.

The NW Campus is sponsoring a free career day to help job seekers explore the opportunities available. The event will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m Tuesday, April 23, in the NW Campus Aviation Hanger. Representatives from national and local companies will be on-site for interviews.

“This event is open to the general public as well as to TCC students,” Daniel Johnston, learning lab manager for aviation maintenance, said.

There is no charge to visitors or vendors. Johnston said that usually vendors must pay a fee to participate in this type of opportunity. No advance reservations are necessary. Attendees should bring their resumes.

While aviation maintenance is the primary focus of several of the companies, such as Southwest and American Airlines, recruiters from other employers such as fabrication labs and fields of electronics will also be represented. Bell Helicopter, Bombardier (a division of Lear Jet) and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad will have representatives available.

Other prospective employers participating are Fed Ex and UPS.
Students from several area high schools will also attend.
