NW workshops provide help toward success

The NW Campus counseling center is sponsoring a series of free workshops designed to help students achieve greater personal and career awareness.
Workshops will be in C-112, next to counseling, in the technical/science building on the NW Campus.
Stress/Road Rage How to Survive will be presented today, Oct. 10. Students will learn techniques on coping with the stress of heavy traffic and slow downs. Larry Kimble, counselor and assistant professor of psychology, will speak at 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Personal Safety Sexual Assault will be Thursday, Oct. 11. One of the most violent and least reported crimes in the United States is sexual assault, according to Sgt. Grady Patterson, crime prevention officer for TCC police department.
Patterson will discuss what students can do to reduce the risk of rape. Facts on what constitutes rape and statistics will also be covered. Presentations will be at 12:30 p.m. and again at 5:30 p.m.
Dancers Secrets: How to incorporate simple dance exercises into your overall fitness routine will be Friday, Oct. 12.
Presenter Linda Quinn, assistant professor of dance and physical education, will show students how dance exercises can be incorporated into any non-dance fitness routine, despite sex, age, weight or ability level. The presentation is at 12:30 p.m. only.
Job Seekers Can Learn to Avoid Common Mistakes is the Wednesday, Oct. 17, presentation. Ginger Shelhimer, licensed professional counselor, will discuss the 10 most common mistakes students make when looking for a job. This lecture is at 12:30 p.m. only.
How to Fall Out of Love is scheduled Friday, Oct. 19. Dr. Terry Collet, counselor and professor of office systems, will discuss how to recover from losing a lover and how to conclude a dead-end relationship. The lecture will begin at 12:30 p.m.
