O Brother, another country heard from
Students enrolled in the Country Strings course will perform songs from the award-winning soundtrack O Brother Where Art Thou.
The class plays primarily blue grass and gospel music. The class meets Tuesdays 7-9 p.m.
The class consists of mainly continuing education students, meaning they earn no college credit for the course. No auditions are held, and the class is open to anyone interested.
Diane Enger, adjunct music instructor on NE Campus, will conduct and play the fiddle.
The type of music we will play for the recital fits perfectly into the class scheme, Enger said.
Prior to this semester, the class traveled to local nursing homes to play.
The class consists of 13 students, including Harris Kirby, John Hoffman, Judy Kay Seaberry, Mike Seaberry, Bill Jones, Landon Dodd, Angela Krupp, Martha Rippy, Johnnie Braddock, Beulah Stolz, Camilla Slaggle, Julie Snyder and Gaye Stockdale.
Special guest performers will include Keith and Beth Enger, as well as 10 children for the chorus.
The concert will be Friday, April 26, at 8 p.m. in the NE Theater, Admission is free.
