Season offers many reasons to be thankful
by Carlos Raigosa, editor-in-chief
Im ready for my plate of turkey and taters as I sit at the Thanksgiving table to enjoy my treats while watching the Cowboys game.
I sat down to think about all the things Im thankful for, and I ended up with a long list.
Im thankful that Im not Gov. Jeb Bush, the secretary general of Florida, or any of those people who are hand counting the ballots in the state that looks to be the decider for the nation.
I can just imagine having to recount so many ballotshow do you apply to be a vote counter, anyway?
If its like jury duty, I could use my checkbook-balancing background to disqualify from consideration.
What would that job be like? I get blisters on my fingers just by holding a book. Who knows what theyd look like after handling thousands of ballots.
Im also thankful that I had an IQ high enough to tell whether I was voting for the Republican Party or the Democratsalthough my vote didnt matter in the scheme of things.
Its just a shame that one of these two candidates has to win.
Im thankful that Im going to earn more than 10 credit hours this semestera personal record.
And if I play my cards right, I might even have enough hours to finally be considered a juniora little late, but tardiness only counts when youre on a schedule.
Im thankful for my friends and family, whom I dont get to see very often because of school and my wonderful job at The Collegian.
But then again, when you are around your co-workers so much, they become your extended family. So I should say Im thankful for my families.
Im thankful for my moms home cooking and her endless supply of food when Im hungry.
The only thing that Im not thankful for, actually Im rather ungrateful for, is the mediocre team the Dallas Cowboys are fielding this season.
Jerry Jones is the one person who is not invited to my dinner this year.
