Womans place on top all encompassing
By Tiffany Davis, south news editor
I would like to think of myself as a well-rounded young woman. A Jill of all traits or better yet a woman who does it allwork, study and maintain a home.
What bothers me though is the fact that some women have not realized how special we are as women.
For many years, women have been looked upon as the weaker sex. Society has expected us to do certain unpleasant tasks just because we are women.
Some religious groups believe that women were created to help. I agree with that statement, but it has been taken way out of context.
We women fought for our rights to vote, for our privileges to work and for respect from our male co-workers.
Now that we have accomplished some of our goals and fulfilled some dreams, they are just additional chores on our to-do list.
I wonder what the women in those days were thinking of when they fought for those rights. Now in addition to the previously expected roles of a woman, we make the bread, bake the bread and spend the bread.
Yes, we gained independence and some respect, but we cant avoid our natural nurturing instincts; therefore, we will always work twice as hard as men work. We will always work longer hours and commit to a tedious lifestyle to accomplish our goals. We should have been named superwomen.
I think that more women need to hold their heads up and be proud because we have come a very long way. We are the exception to the rule because some of us are wives, mothers, students, employees and even daddies.
I think that all women should honor themselves and always remember that this world revolves around us. When you look at television, the screen is full of beautiful women. When you listen to the radio, the music is about women. Men flock to exotic clubs to see women dance.
Lets face it; this world would be a dull place for men if it werent for women.
