NE Invasion tops Mavs in playoff for basketball
Intramural basketball playoffs continued last week on NE Campus with more forfeits and more trash talking.
In the first game, the Shooters advanced to the finals because of a forfeit by Texas Boyz for not having enough players.
In the second game, the Invasion beat the Mavs 66-54.
Throughout the first half, both teams exchanged the lead many times. At half-time Invasion was ahead 32-30.
At half-time mouths and tempers were flaring as a Mavs player was awarded a technical foul for a comment to Marty Martin, the referee and intramural director.
The Mavs came out hot in the second half due to the solid play of Brian Rogers, who led the Mavs with 17 points.
However, the Invasion was too much for the Mavs to handle late. The Invasion forced the Mavs to make several bad passes, leading to turnovers when points were needed.
The endless effort by Invasions Jayson Smith kept the team in the game throughout. He led both teams in scoring with 28 points.
The final game of the intramural basketball season will be the championship game. The Shooters will be playing Invasion.
