Satirical play to open at area Pocket theater

    Charles Busch’s comedy, The Lady In Question, opens at Pocket Sandwich Theatre in Dallas Friday, Feb. 22, and runs through Saturday, March 30.

   The parody, directed by Jamie Baker Knapp, is based on the sleazy “damsel-in-distress” movies of the ’50s and ’60s.

   Busch has written and starred in other satirical comedies such as Psycho Beach Party and Vampire Lesbians of Sodom.

   Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday.

   Food and beverage services are available one and one-half hours before show time.

   Ticket prices range from $6-$14 depending on the night of the performance. Two-dollar discounts are offered, any night, for senior citizens and children 12 and under. Group rates are available.

   This is Pocket Sandwich’s 22nd year of putting on productions such as Ebenezer Scrooge, Shakespeare for the Modern Man, Lesson 1: Macbeth, The Bride of Frankenstein and other comedies, melodramas and musicals. The theatre’s signature performances are the popcorn-throwing melodramas that require audience interaction with the characters of the show.
