Abortion truly a woman’s private choice
by Jessica Cruz, reporter

Our ancestors came to this country because of the freedom of choice. At that moment in time, they believed their King had overstepped his bounds by dictating what religions could be practiced.

Our ancestors came to this country because of the freedom of choice. At that moment in time, they believed their King had overstepped his bounds by dictating what religions could be practiced.

Thankfully, our ancestors resisted such treatment and revolted.

Similarly, wouldn’t our current government be overstepping its bounds by dictating what a woman could do to her body?

When abortions were illegal, many young women took matters into their own hands, and in most cases, this action led to their deaths. Our government was built for the people, by the people to protect our people, and I believe this is why abortion has been legalized.

Our friends, the Pro-Life group, will preach about how precious life is, but this same group has been known to stalk abortion practitioners and, in some cases, kill them. These same people who wake up at the crack of dawn to protest outside of abortion clinics and harass the doctors and their staff are also the same people who whine and moan about all the people on welfare. Nobody wants to deal with these unwanted children after they are born.

     Hypocrites? You decide.

I feel sorry for the victims of rape or incest. These women did not  choose to have sex. Yet they have to endure all the Pro-Life commercials and ads that grow more ridiculous by the minute.

It is so easy for someone who has been sheltered all her life in her mommy and daddy’s home and gone straight to her husband’s home to pass judgment. But if we have never been in that situation, we will never know what it’s like. The best thing we can do is to keep an open mind and try not to sound condescending.

The guy in the lunch line and the blonde sitting by me in class won’t ever be able to tell me what I can or cannot do to my body just because they believe it is wrong.

This freedom is a gift. I choose what’s right and wrong for me, not for the lunch line guy, not for the blonde and not for you.Thankfully, our ancestors resisted such treatment and revolted.
