Professor to perform concert

Free entertainment usually appeals to dollar-deficient college students, and the NW Campus is offering students a free piano concert.

Brian Marks, assistant professor of piano at Baylor University’s School of Music, will display his talents on the ivories, Thursday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in B-118.

Marks, on the Baylor faculty since 1991, has received a Grammy nomination for his recording of John Harrison’s San Antonio.

As a proponent of contemporary American music, Marks has premiered new works in solo and chamber settings.

He also has performed on KLRU TV and made a solo appearance with the Tennessee Symphony Orchestra.

Marks earned a master of music and doctorate in musical arts from the University of Texas at Austin. In Munich, Germany, he studied musicology at the Ludwig Maximilians Universität.
