PTK expands charitable activities, donations
Now that the Spring semester is well underway, so are the many services of Phi Theta Kappa. All students and faculty are invited to participate in community activities.
The most far-reaching service is the participation in the March of Dimes WalkAmerica Saturday, April 27, by all TCC campus chapters.
Phi Tau chapter president KC Jones will be team captain and an official.
We really want to go all out to support this worthy cause, she said.
Each of the campus student activities offices has agreed to be involved in collecting donations and distributing information.
Checks can also be given to Dee Dee Rogers in the LRC on NE, Jones at The Collegian or at one of the Phi Theta Kappa meetings on any TCC campus.
To become involved, call Jones at 817-282-7262 or visit any TCC student activities office.
Donations are tax deductible and must be received by Wednesday, April 24. Any amount is welcome, payable to March of Dimes.
NE Campus also began a week-long collection for baby needs items Monday. A collection box for donated items is in front of the bookstore.
On Saturday, Feb. 23, the items will be delivered to the Mid-Cities pregnancy center for distribution.
The center partners with mothers to help support them through their pregnancy since many of the clients are in crisis situations and are economically challenged.
The kind of items the mothers need most are diapers in all sizes, receiving blankets, crib sheets, casual maternity clothing in all sizes and sleepers for newborns.
Children of all ages are invited to participate in the Childrens Book Swap in the TV Lounge of the Student Center at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23.
Children should bring the books they no longer want so they can trade them for books from other children.
Refreshments will be served.
