Race for Cure seeks event team captains

    TCC student groups can gain recognition and help a local charity. Organizers for the 10th Annual Komen Tarrant County Race for the Cure are currently recruiting team captains and participants for this year’s race.

   Sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the race is scheduled, Saturday, April 6, in Fort Worth’s Sundance Square. Anyone who can gather 10 co-workers, fellow students, family or friends to form a team may be a captain.

   The fee is $20 per participant and includes entrance in the race of choice, a t-shirt and a special team hat.

   Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds raised remain in Tarrant County for breast cancer education, screening and treatment for those who need assistance with financing.

   The Komen Foundation receives 25 percent of the proceeds for research grants through the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Research Program.

   The annual event distributed over $440,000 in this community last year.
