Retention, recruitment efforts bring results

The official 12th-day enrollment numbers are in for all TCC campuses, and the results are good, according to district administrators.
The number of students for the entire district increased from last year.
I think the enrollment will increase more, Dr. Bill Lace, executive assistant to the chancellor, said.
There are some factors which have increased the schools population, he said.
More people are moving to this area, and also when the economy is down, people feel the need to attend school for additional training, he said.
Last year the total number of students for the district was 25,468 which grew this year by 1,942 students for a total number of 27,410.
South Campus increased slightly with 6,634 last year compared to 7,076 this year, a 442 gain.
NE Campus went from 8,816 to 9,581, with 765 students more than last year.
NW Campus had 4,265 students last year and made a 362 jump to 4,627.
SE Campus went from 7,081 to 7,573 with a 492 difference.
I think it is great that the enrollment is up, Dr. Larry Darlage, NE Campus president, said.
I believe that a major contributor is recruitment and retention, he said. Part of this endeavor is to hold onto the statistics we have, while recruiting new students. We are very excited that the district is up, as well as all of the campuses.
