RetroFest films reflect 60s

Students can experience the 60s through the big screen on campus this semester.
In conjunction with RetroFest, the county-wide celebration of the 60s, student activities on NE Campus has scheduled different movies dealing with that decade.
Apollo 13, starring Tom Hanks, will show Sept. 25-29.
The movie deals with the true story of three NASA astronauts and their flight to the moon. After Americans landed on the moon following the historic Apollo 11 flight, the world looked on to see crisis after crisis plaguing Apollo 13.
Dr. Zhivago, starring Omar Sharif and Julie Christie, will show Oct. 9-15. This movie is based on a novel written by Boris Pasternak.
The Russian-based movie, about a doctor who decides to lead a different life, is considered one of the best movies ever made and features a best-selling sound track.
Good Morning Vietnam, with Robin Williams, will show Oct. 13-17.
The movie is about the trials and tribulations of a disc jockey who briefly ruled Saigons U.S. Army radio in 1965 but ired the top brass by not following the imposed rules and regulations. Williams earned his first best actor nomination for the Academy Awards in this comedy.
Easy Rider, starring Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholoson, will show Oct. 16-20.
This movie concerns two men who set out to discover the country. Nicholosons performance as an alcoholic lawyer won him his first Academy Award nomination as best supporting actor.
JFK, starring Kevin Costner, Sissy Spacek, Tommy Lee Jones, Joe Pesci, Jack Lemmon and Donald Sutherland, will air Oct. 23-27.
This story motivates and signifies the alleged conspiracy behind the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
Marnie, starring Sean Connery and Tippi Hedren, will show Oct. 30 through Nov. 3.
This unsung film, written by Alfred Hitchcock, is about a young woman (Hedren) who is not what she appears to be.
Woodstock, starring Jimi Hendrix and Jefferson Airplane, will air Nov. 6-10. This film is said to be one of the most important film documentaries of the late 60s.
All films will show in the Student Center Video Lounge. The movies will air Monday through Thursday at 9:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. They will also air Friday at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
