Road rage, another sign, of hostility, in society
by Roxanna Latifi, reporter
Those who have been watching the news lately have probably heard of drivers with deadly tempers.
Several cases of road rage have occurred within the past few weeks alone.
One TCC student was followed over 15 miles onto campus because a driver thought he had been cut off on purpose. As the student pulled into a parking place, the driver and his passenger were getting out of their car and approaching him. Luckily, the campus police intervened and calmed down the other driver.
Not only have people run each other off the road and beaten one another up, but they are now using weapons and killing each other.
One incident of violent road rage occurred last week when a teenager on his way home was shot in the head.
In another incident, a father driving his son to the store cut off another driver. When the father stopped at a red light, the driver whom he had cut off drove up. That driver got out of his car and started hitting the father and son with a baseball bat.
As a result of the beating, the father is blind and his son badly injured.
Why must someones anger result in killing another?
Is it so hard for people to cool off before they get behind the wheel? Or cant people keep themselves calm until they get home?
If the drivers in theses two cases had not been angry from the start, or had at least allowed themselves to calm down, these deadly incidents would have never happened.
It should shame people to see what our society has become. We have enough to worry about. We should not have to deal with people who are so weak they cannot control their own tempers.
People who are angry should walk, run, jump or yell to blow off some steam.
Angry people should not get behind the wheel, but should first calm down, even if it means that they have to be late.
We must strive not to let temper get the best of us.
