The Robber Bridegroom alternative holiday fare for campus
by Michael Kraft, entertainment editor

If the constant Christmas programming that will soon be assaulting us on TV gets tiresome, the SE Campus is offering a relief: The Robber Bridegroom.

IOpening Tuesday, Nov. 27, the show, directed by Craig Lee, SE theater instructor, focuses on the Bandit of the Woods (Travis Head), a thief who steals from unwary travelers.

IOne night, he robs Rosamund Musgrove (Carrie Bush), a good girl who immediately falls in love with him.

IUnbeknownst to her or anybody else, the Bandit is also Jamie Lockhart, a young man who lives in the town.

IRosamund’s father, Clement (John Davis), is trying to set Jamie and his daughter up, but she is not receptive to her father’s plans.

IShe does not like Jamie and keeps trying to find the Bandit and discover his true identity.

ITravis Head, who plays Lockhart, is an experienced actor who has been at TCC for two-and-a-half years.

I“It’s kind of like Superman,” he says about his character’s situation. “Rosamund is in love with the Bandit, not Jamie, much like Lois being in love with Superman, but not Clark Kent,” he said.

IJohn Davis, an experienced actor, has enjoyed working with Lee.

I“I’m really digging it; it’s been a hoot,” he said.

ICarrie Bush is a relative newcomer with this being her second show at TCC, and she loves every minute of the production.

I“I like playing the love interest, and the show is great. It’s very up, very positive. I’ve got a lot of friends coming to see it, and I know it’ll be good,” she said.

ILee, making his TCC directing debut, says the show is just about perfect.

I“It’s been a great time. The cast is so talented, and that’s made my job easier. The show is perfect because considering the events of late, it’s good the audience can come in, sit and just be entertained,” he said.

IThe show runs through Saturday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday.

ITickets are $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and children under 12. TCC students, faculty and staff get in free.
