SE boiling eggstra special day

Children can search for decorated Easter eggs Friday, March 29, from 1 to 3 p.m. on SE Campus by the campus flagpole.

Prizes, such as tickets to the Scarbourogh Fair, Omni Theatre, Fort Worth Museum of Natural Science and History will be given.

In addition, free dinners at local restaurants, will be raffled throughout the day’s activities.

The cost of the event is $2 per child and includes the egg hunt, raffle card for the tickets and dinner, as well as family entertainment.

“The money raised at the egg hunt is used to help fund a place for abused women and children. The place will be available so they can leave a dangerous relationship,” Regina Huse, hunt coordinator, said.

This is the SE Campus’ third annual Easter hunt sponsored by the Future Professionals of Science and Medicine (FPSM).

The proceeds are given to the Arlington Women’s Night Shelter, an organization devoted to supplying the basic needs of food, shelter and clothing to battered and abused women and their children in Tarrant County, Huse said.

Last year, the hunt raised $500 for the shelter and Huse expects to equal or exceed that amount this year.

The members of FPSM are preparing between 3,000-4,000 eggs for the event. Eggs will contain candy, confetti or prizes similar to those available through the raffle. Also available for hunt participants are face paintings, balloons, food and drinks, Huse said.

   Hunt times are scheduled by ages: 1:30-2 p.m., children 0-3; 2-2:30 p.m., children 4-7, and 2:30-3 p.m., children 8-10.
