Variety of sports await South athletes

The intramural season on South Campus hits full stride as spring rolls in.

March Madness descends on TCC students as the annual Free-Throw Contest begins.

Qualifying rounds started Monday and end tomorrow. Participants must fill out an entry form for the qualifying round by 4 p.m. Thursday, March 28.

The Final Four Championship competition begins Monday, April 1, and will run through Thursday, April 4.

The participant with the final #1 ranking will receive an indoor/outdoor leather basketball. Consolation prizes will be awarded to the other Final Four competitors.

The Century Club has developed an incentive-laden program to aid TCC students in getting fit.

The program, Get Fit for the Health of It, uses adjusted distance goals to motivate, encourage and establish progress.

The Surgeon General recently recommended that all people take a brisk walk most days of the week.

Those brisk walks can translate into prizes such as water bottles, sports towels, T-shirts, pedometers, radios and heart-rate monitors for reaching specific distance goals.

Other upcoming events in the intramural season start this week. The Longest Drive and Putting competition, as well as tennis season, begins today. Three-on-three volleyball and one-on-one basketball begins Monday, April 1.

All intramural participants must follow HPE guidelines and check-in appropriately before beginning play (students must be currently enrolled and photo ID required).

Students can go to the HPE department for more information or contact Scott J. Clark at 817-515-4237 or at geronut@hotmail.com.
