Spoof on Hamlet to open on South
An old-fashioned comedy, I Hate Hamlet, comes to South Campus Carillon Theatre next week.
The play by Paul Rudnick concerns a less than enthusiastic television actor who gets a chance to play Hamlet in Central Park.
The actor, Andy, played by Allen Randall, moves into an apartment once occupied by John Barrymore, the world-renowned actor best remembered for his portrayal of the Danish prince. Barrymore returns to haunt the new tenant.
Cast members include Randall, Shannon Sackett as Gary, Jim Johnson as Barrymore, Rene Finkenkeller as Felicia, Taylor Bradford as Dierdra and Catherine White as Lillian.
Production staff includes Jennifer Lush, stage manager; Mindy Coe, assistant to the director; Jesse Jordan, lights; Allen Randall, Jennifer Lush, Ned Record, Kenneth Houston and Jesse Jordan, crew lights; Mindy Coe, sound; Rene Finkenkeller, sound crew; and Hillari Paulk, costumes. Others include Mindy Coe, costume crew; Bethany Bundock, properties; Mark Hoot and Rene Finkenkeller, properties crew; Shannon Sackett, set; Taylor Bradford, Benjamin Jackson, Jason Seawood, Karmyn Paskey, Jesse Jordan, Cathy Schmeltekopf and Stephanie Kubicek, set crew.
Directed by Patty McCormick, the play is in the Joe B. Rushing Center for the Performing Arts March 6-9 at 8 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee Thursday, March 8.
